Need to update my updates

Wow, been a little while since my last entry. Life has been fastforwarded again. Every time it looks like I might catch up, God hit's the Turbo button , and zooommmm....life resumes it's normal blurry pace.

I saw "War of the Worlds" not too long ago. Liked it, really depressing though. I would have liked to see the story told from a military or macro-governmental viewpoint. I did not like the fact that no mention of God occurred anywhere, until the very end when Morgan Freeman's voice informs us that God, in His wisdom, created little bugs to protect us from aliens. Hmmm.... I think Carl Sagan's "Contact" with Jodie Foster handled that issue so much more meaningfully.

Also saw "Timeline", stupid! and Coupling - Season One, which we thought was hilarious. If you like NBC's "Friends" and don't mind a bit of vulgarity, Coupling is definitely funny.

I've read a few books in recent weeks. Mostly Gregory Benford and Ben Bova style of science fiction novels, as well as a thoroughly enjoyable new issue of Sharpe's Battles from the brilliant Bernard Cornwell, called "Sharpe's Devil". While somewhat on a B.Cornwell kick, I read his Arthur trilogy, Winter King, Enemy of God, and Excaliber. All highly enjoyable, though somewhat bloody, but in keeping with the era. Bernard Cornwell is a master researcher, and I greatly appreciate his skill and craft at weaving his knowledge into whatever he writes.

Next up: I've been commissioned to work on a new website via NextStepDesigns, and I'm helping to revamp the corporate intranet at my day job, yet again.

But first, we are heading to Mammoth and then to Yosemite for our annual pilgrimage to the High Sierra's.

There, okay Internet, that should keep you for a while. If you find yourself needing more, check out that wacky heather at www.dooce.com. As funny as she is, after reading her site I appreciate my wife that much more :-)
